Emily Wilson
PUBLISHER / MUSIC-LOVER
Music has been the heartbeat of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my favorite memories are tied to live shows—the energy, the connection, the way music brings people together.
My playlists span genres, but hip-hop and jazzy R&B hold a special place in my heart. Mac Miller, Big Sean, and Tyler, The Creator are always on repeat, and my Erykah Badu vinyl has gotten countless spins.
My passion for storytelling began early, when I took over my brother’s paper route at eight years old, sneaking peeks at the news before delivering it. Since then, I’ve been blending journalism and music in everything I do.
I earned my BS in Journalism from Boston University, where I focused on the music beat. After graduating, I became a live music photographer. Capturing the magic of music, whether through words, photos, or events, is what I love most.
Global Soundwaves is the next chapter of that passion—a way to celebrate music and the culture around it with the world.

Ashley McDonald
COLUMNIST / PUBLIC RELATIONS
As a lifelong writer and music lover, my career in public relations was inspired by my passion for music. I love live shows, songwriting, and have an appreciation for genres ranging from classic rock and EDM and to reggae — but if you pass me the aux, you can expect to hear lots of Russ, $uicideboy$, Drake, and Young Thug tracks.
I have spent more than five years exploring the world of freelance artist management, mastering project management within agencies centered around serving advocacy-based clients, and the rewards of successful nonprofit campaigns.

Robert Kelly
JOURNALIST / IN-HOUSE ARTIST
Born and raised in California, I’ve always had a deep love and appreciation for music. The Beatles, John Prine, and the Australian surf rock scene are some of my biggest inspirations. I picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and haven’t put it down since.
In high school, I formed a band with my lifelong friend Tyler Schiller, and in 2020, we added two more members and became Twin Fin. We’re currently on tour, and on top of that, I also play solo shows.
When I’m not performing, I’m interning as a journalist. I’m passionate about exploring the intersection of music with storytelling. Being both an artist and a journalist gives me a unique perspective that I’m excited to bring to Global Soundwaves.

HUMAN BEING
Back when I was 12 years old, I would spend 5-6 hours a night listening to and analyzing the lyrics to tracks from Lupe Fiasco, Eminem, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, and so many more hip hop artists. Freestyling especially caught my attention as I found out about Wayne Brady on ‘Who’s Line is it Anyway?’ and Lin Manuel Miranda on ‘Freestyle Love Supreme’. I scoured KOTD rap battle videos for the best off-top rebuttal in the session. Today, I lead the content and digital marketing strategy for the great freestyle emcee Harry Mack.
As I studied the greats, the urge to write my own poetry and perform my own music kept growing, so here I am. I love to livestream with my audience and freestyle using words they provide in the chat, as well as record written pieces over a wide variety of instrumentals. I’ve only just started creating on my own accord, and hopefully one of my messages strikes a chord with you.
